Student scientific society of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology №2

Responsible for the work of the student scientific society are teachers Oleksandra Viktorivna Prokopyuk (with English-medium students) and Oleksandra Mykolayivna Tishchenko (with Ukrainian-medium students).

Student scientific society of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology No.2 is based on voluntary membership and common interests of the student association.

I. AIMS OF THE SSS.
uniting the efforts of students, teachers of the department, obstetricians and gynecologists to study topical issues of obstetrics and gynecology;
assistance in the implementation of society members as young doctors-scientists.

II. MEMBERSHIP IN THE SSS.
Only a student of KhNMU (all faculties) can be a member of the society.

III. RIGHTS ND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SSS MEMBERS.
to participate in the meetings of the society;
to make proposals on the work of the SSS;
to take part in the decision of organizational questions, reception of new members of the society, elections of the monitor;
to seek help and advice on any issues related to work in the club, to the monitor of the SSS or to the head of the SSS;
to carry out scientific activities in accessible ways (experiment, work in the archive, duty in clinics, etc.).
Scientific work can be performed on the basis of obstetric or gynecological clinics, women’s clinics of the city with the permission of the Administration of the clinic and under the supervision of the scientific adviser of the SSS;
to participate in symposia, scientific societies, conferences and, in agreement with the head of the SSS, make reports and announcements;
Members of the society are obliged to:
carry out scientific work systematically and in the established terms and at the request of the monitor of the society or the head of the SSS to give the report on the executed work;
regularly provide reports, announcements and case studies;
adhere to the discipline of the department, respect senior colleagues, strictly adhering to subordination;
stay in the clinic in compliance with the sanitary regime and the requirements of the university regarding the form of clothing.

IV. RIGHTS AAND OBLIGTIONS OF THE MONITOR OF THE SSS.
The monitor is elected at a meeting of the society by a simple majority of votes. The monitor of the society can also be appointed by the head of the SSS.
The duties of the head of the society include:
maintaining a list of members of the society, which indicates full name, faculty, year, group, address, telephone and topic of scientific work of the society member;
compiling a short report on each meeting of the society, indicating those who are present, presenters and topics of reports;
preparation of a report on the work performed for the previous academic year;
drawing up, taking into account the wishes of the society members, the work plan of the SSS (together with the monitor) and informing the members of the society about its changes;
publication of announcements about the meeting of the society in public places not later than one week before the meeting;
submission of applications and abstracts of scientific works of society members to the SSS of KhNMU for their publication.
The monitor of the society has the right to:
* require from members of the society to perform their duties under this Statute;
* give instructions to members of the society related to the work of the SSS, and check their performance;
* transfer part of their responsibilities to the members of the society with their consent and in agreement with the head of the society;

V. SOCIETY WORK.
The work of the society involves thematic meetings, where students make reports, abstracts and case studies. The number of abstracts should be regulated so that their number does not exceed 25-30% of the total number of speeches.
Work plan drawn up in advance and agreed with the head of the society can imply joint meetings with student scientific society of other departments of the university.
Members of the society participate in the organization and holding of student conferences according to the previously drawn plan.
Once a semester meetings of the society entail rounds of the clinic’s departments in coordination with the staff and heads of departments.
The work plan of the society of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology must be drawn up in advance by the head, approved by the head of the society and brought to the attention of the members of the society.
After each meeting, the monitor prepares a short report indicating by name all the present members of the society, junior students who wished to attend the society and which announcements were made.
All reports are carefully stored during the year, and on their basis general report on the work of the society for the past year is compiled and announced at the final meeting.
Each member of the society can always ask for help and advice on any issues related to work in the society, to the scientific adviser of the society and teachers of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

V. STATUTE OF THE SOCIETY.
This Statute is considered adopted and enters into force during an open vote of all members of the society by a simple majority of votes.
Upon adoption of this Statute, all members of the society are obliged to strictly adhere to all the provisions of the Statute.
This Statute may be revised if necessary at the final meetings of the society in the presence of all members, head of the society and the staff of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology No.2.

Scientific work of students is carried out in the form of meetings of the student scientific society, which has been functioning since the formation of the department. It is attended annually by 15-25 4th, 5th and 6th-year medical and pediatric students. Traditionally, during the academic year, students prepare illustrated reports on topical issues of obstetrics and gynecology (e.g. “Management of pregnancy and childbirth in HIV patients”, “Changes in psychosomatic condition during pregnancy”, etc.), prepare practical work on the results of case studies, work with archival material (for example: “Medical abortion. Comparative analysis”, “Tactics of management and delivery in pregnant with a scar on the uterus”.
Every year at the meetings of the student society the basic practical skills necessary for full mastering of the discipline and preparation of the student are practiced. All interested students can attend and improve their practical skills in obstetrics and gynecology.
