A number of events for World AIDS Day were held

On December 1, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., in the main building of the Kharkiv National Medical University, on the initiative of the public education and volunteering sector of the Student Government of the KNMU, a preventive and educational face-to-face event dedicated to the World AIDS Day was held.

This event is an important contribution to the popularization of knowledge about AIDS among the student and teaching public, helping to create a tolerant and knowledgeable society.

Participants had the opportunity to listen to four interesting reports, including:

  1. “AIDS: the silent killer”
  2. “AIDS diagnosis”
  3. “Treatment of AIDS”
  4. “HIV/AIDS: is society tolerant”

The lectures allowed everyone to recall or learn new information, which contributed to the deepening of knowledge on AIDS awareness. After the stories, the participants were invited to play a quiz on the Quizlett platform to consolidate the knowledge they had learned. Also, an interactive event “Truth/myth” was held at one of the locations, which helped to deepen the understanding of the topic several times.

In addition, each participant had the opportunity to undergo free testing to determine their HIV status. This initiative became a good opportunity for every student and teacher to check their health.

The participation of students and employees of the university is a positive step in the direction of joining efforts to spread awareness about AIDS, which directly indicates the understanding of the importance of this problem and the readiness to actively participate in initiatives aimed at preventing and fighting this disease.

Аn online event for all students of higher education at KNMU on the theme “World AIDS Day” was held.

The following topics were discussed at the event:

  1. AIDS Day: meaning and history
  2. Disclosure of HIV: mechanism of transmission, pathogenesis
  3. Diagnosis, treatment and support of HIV-positive people
  4. Interesting facts. Interactive: truth/myth about HIV

Students actively participated in the quiz, got good results and confirmed their level of knowledge on this topic. The most attentive participants received certificates.

We would like to thank all the students who participated in the event and showed their activity and concern for this topical topic in our time. We are working to ensure that such events continue to be held, contributing to the formation of an educated medical community!
