Organizational forms. Lectures are problematic, accompanied by a demonstration of the patient or medical history. The classes use technical teaching supports: a multimedia projector, an interactive multimedia system, etc. Most of the lecture course (up to 75-80%) is delivered by professors of the department. Texts for all lectures are present in Ukrainian, Russian and English. The material is constantly processed and supplemented with new facts. Practical classes are conducted in the form of clinical analysis.
Knowledge control. Test tasks are widely used at the department to determine the initial, current and final levels of students’ knowledge. A test base has been developed. Curriculum – control program for students “Assistant-2” is implemented in the educational process. An electronic bank of tasks in the format of the license test “KROK-2” has been created, which contains clinical tasks on various topics of the curriculum.
Educational and methodical support. During their studies, students use the textbook “Occupational Diseases” (stamped by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine), created by the staff of the department in co-authorship with leading specialists of co-directed departments of higher medical institutions of Ukraine and published in 2011, 2015 and 2017 – in Ukrainian, in 2012. – in Russian, in 2016 – in English. A sufficient number of textbooks in the university library allows each student to receive a copy before the cycle.
Innovative technologies. Visual materials have been developed. These materials are shown to students in lectures and practical classes, provided on electronic media for extracurricular independent work. In independent work of students both in practical classes under the guidance of the teacher, and in extracurricular time multimedia educational and educational-controlling programs are used. When teaching the material, students are provided with an algorithm for finding additional information with links to paper or electronic publications, including Internet resources. In terms of distance learning, teachers of the department create separate components of electronic courses and conduct lectures and practical classes on the platform MOODLE, ZOOM and Google Meet; keep electronic journals of grades, adjust course resources. Electronic educational and methodical complex of the academic discipline consists of the following components: name, short description of the discipline, methodical recommendations on the use of web resources, sequence of execution, features of control; curriculum of the discipline; evaluation criteria; lecture material in text form with graphics, drawings and tables, presentations, video and audio recordings of materials needed to supplement and illustrate the lecture material; video and audio recordings of lectures, seminars; tests for all types of control of the level of knowledge (self-control, current and final control).
At the department classrooms and lecture halls are equipped with modern interactive mobile and stationary video panels of multimedia training, which are actively used in classes. Audio, photo and video materials are additionally provided to deepen students’ knowledge. Modern videos and the above technical capabilities make it possible to combine the demonstration of the process with testing students’ understanding of the proposed information.
On the basis of the created modern computer class students have an opportunity to pass computer testing. Computer tests are developed by teachers of the department, based on the materials of typical tasks from “KROK-2” General medical training and “Dentistry” for Ukrainian and foreign students. A web portal of the department have been created.
Improving pedagogical skills. Internal departmental forms of professional development of teachers are: control attendance of classes by the head of the department, mutual attendance of classes by teachers, demonstration and open classes, participation in seminars and scientific meetings with further discussion of their results at department meetings. In addition, employees undergo cycles of specialization and professional improvement (“Psychology of professional activity of a high school teacher”), receive specialized higher education (specialty “Higher School Pedagogy”, master’s degree). In modern conditions of active remote forms of advanced training (web-seminars) are used.
