Volunteers took part in a psychological residence

Representatives of the volunteer sector “Era Caritas” of the PO “Student Government of KNMU” were selected and invited to a 7-day psychological residency as part of the project “Psychological Support for Children’s Hospitals”, which took place in the city of Uzhhorod from November 18 to 24, 2024, with the support of USAID and the PO “Moment of Strength”.

The organizers of the event were interested in the work of KNMU students in hospitals, shelters and other platforms with children, IDPs, etc.

The residency-practice included joint work of male and female students of Kharkiv and Uzhhorod universities, focusing on psychological game practices, music therapy, the basics of sound recording, vulnerability and sensitivity of the given time and providing first aid:

The first day was dedicated to acquiring new skills in psychological support for young patients in medical institutions.

On the second day, volunteers immersed themselves in a new direction – music therapy.

The third day was dedicated to establishing contact and issues of personal boundaries – a key component of psychological health.

On the fourth day, participants explored the sensitivity and vulnerability of the human body. The central topic of the day was Nordic walking.

On the fifth day, the team visited the radio “Eden”, where they recorded an interview with Oleksiy Jamaiskyi. It was an exciting experience that added new skills.

The sixth day was devoted to a practical course on providing first aid to children.

On the last day of the residency, the team presented the author’s project “Medical Background” at the children’s hospital in Uzhhorod. Volunteers held classes for children and hospital staff, explaining the importance of psychological support for young patients. All those present appreciated the project and were delighted with the event.

The residency became a source of invaluable experience, new knowledge and inspiration for further work for our students! We wish you success in your further implementations and work!
