Distribution of "Hibuki therapy" in Ukraine
Prominent experts from Israel in the field of “Hibuki therapy” began to cooperate with the NGO “Student Government of the Kharkiv National Medical University”.
Even before the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the students of the Khnist Medical University actively participated in volunteer activities: they visited children in hospitals, orphanages, rehabilitation centers, anti-tuberculosis sanatoriums and accumulated considerable experience in implementing various therapeutic practices in working with children.
During the war, medical students felt that their help was needed even more, especially in working with children. This is how students are currently implementing their activities not only in Kharkiv, near their native Alma Mater, but also in various parts of Ukraine. That is why the medical students of KhNMU enthusiastically began to participate in the spread of a new therapeutic technique – Hibuki therapy. Recently, our students were lucky enough to meet the pioneer of Hibuki – Daphna Sharon-Maksimov.
Students have already conducted and participated in many events related to Hibuki therapy – they started their activities at KNP City Clinical Children’s Hospital No. 16 of the Kharkiv City Council by joining the “Music morning beats” event, timed to the International Volunteer Day. In the next step, on December 25, with the support of UNICEF and the assistance of the Student Government of the Khnist Medical University, as well as the City Clinical Children’s Hospital No. 16, a lecture-seminar was held on the Israeli method of overcoming military psychological trauma in children – hibuki therapy.
After all the events, the representatives of the Student Government of KhNMU met with Daphna Sharon-Maksimov, where they agreed on cooperation and implementation of Hibuki therapy in different parts of Ukraine – currently in Kyiv and Kharkiv.
On January 29, with the support of the Student Government of the KhNMU and the City Clinical Children’s Hospital No. 16, another event “Vesely Consilium” took place within the framework of the “Doctor-Baby” project with the addition of hibuki therapy methods. During the event, the students showed and taught the children various medical manipulations: they showed how to properly perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation on a mannequin, how to insert drips, intravenous and intramuscular injections, perform lumbar puncture and bandaging “victims”. Each child had the opportunity to reproduce the acquired knowledge in the practical part, using toys in the role of patients, as well as a mannequin for performing CPR.
The second part of the event was dedicated to working with a “hug dog”. Each child carried leaflets with tasks aimed at psychological support thanks to hibuki. Thus, children learn to show their emotions and feelings, as well as to communicate their experiences and needs.
Representatives of the Student Government of KhNMU solemnly presented the chief doctor of the KNP “City Clinical Children’s Hospital No. 16 of KhMR” – Marina Valentynivna Kucherenko with a thank you for the cooperation and support of the volunteer work of medical students of KhNMU.
Students continue to plan to cooperate with regional clinical hospital No. 16, and have already planned the next trip to Kharkiv regional children’s clinical hospital and other medical institutions, using the warm heart of a volunteer doctor and hibuki therapy to improve the psychological state of everyone who needs it.
