On November 13, the final lecture in a series of online lectures by Professor Jacob Stegenga of Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) was held, which he delivered to applicants for the third (educational and scientific) level of higher education within the course “Philosophy of Science”.

Vice-Rector for Research Oksana Nakonechna, on behalf of Kharkiv National Medical University, thanked Professor Jacob Stegenga for his cooperation, noting that his lectures made a significant contribution to the formation of the scientific worldview of our future doctors.

Kateryna Karpenko, Head of the Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences, noted that Professor Stegenga has demonstrated an example of open science by providing our graduate students with free access to his scientific works and textbooks on general philosophy of science, philosophy of medicine, and philosophy of biology, among which the most significant are “Medical Nihilism” and “Treatment and Care: An Introduction to the Philosophy of Medicine”. They will continue to be the focus of the course “Philosophy of Science”, considering the principles of academic integrity.

The group leader of the first-year postgraduate students, Polina Gordienko, thanked Professor Stegenga for his meaningful lectures and willingness to share knowledge and experience. She supported the opinion of Vice-Rector for Research Oksana Nakonechna that Professor Jacob Stegenga’s new book, entitled “The Heart of Science”, which will be published in early 2026, will be a good occasion for the fruitful continuation of communication.
