Training under the SimS project has begun at KhNMU

On the basis of the Simulation Center of Educational and Scientific Institute of Education Quality, KhNMU. 50 future doctors – applicants for higher medical education began training within the framework of the Erasmus+ project “Simulation Medicine and Scenario-Based Training in Emergency Medical Care” (SimS).

The classes are scheduled for 5 weeks and include passing briefing scenarios on the Open Labyrinth platform, practicing acquired practical skills in complex stimulating case scenarios, which were developed by project participants – scientific and pedagogical workers in the specialty “Emergency Medicine and Clinical Psychology” of 3 Ukrainian medical higher education institutions, including KhNMU.

Practice of acquired skills and competencies during thematic scenarios “First on the scene – emergency medical care” takes place in a specially equipped auditorium of the Simulation Center of KhNMU using equipment purchased with the financial support of the SimS project. An important element of the training is the demonstration of skills in providing psychological support to victims, as well as conducting resuscitation measures – both basic and according to an extended protocol using special equipment and medicine.

The possibility of undergoing practice before and after testing allows future doctors to track and evaluate acquired skills and competencies, and trainers to debrief the role of the project in the educational process.
