Memorandum of Understanding signed at Kharkiv National Medical University with Trent University
On January 21, 2025, the ceremony of signing the Memorandum of Understanding between Kharkiv National Medical University and Nottingham Trent University (NTU) took place online.
At the beginning of the meeting, the rector of Kharkiv National Medical University Valery Myasoedov thanked for the opportunities provided and for the support of Great Britain, which is very helpful to Ukraine in these difficult times.
“British universities share their most important resource – knowledge and opportunities, so we gladly accepted the opportunity to sign a memorandum with your university. We wanted this to be the first step for our further cooperation.
Education remains the fundamental basis for the existence of humanity, which provides the basis for the development of higher education in any country. We hope that peace will come to Ukraine in the near future, and we will be able to meet not only online, but also offline, so we invite you to Kharkiv,” the rector noted.
Valery Myasoyedov also emphasized that the training of nurses, social work, prosthetics and orthotics, and rehabilitation are currently very important areas for Ukraine, and expressed hope for cooperation in other areas. For its part, Kharkiv National Medical University is ready to share its experience in providing medical, surgical, and psychological assistance acquired during the war.
Head of the International Relations and Grants Department Oksana Vasilyeva presented the medical university to our international colleagues, noting that after the first meetings in July 2024, as a part of the Ukrainian-British #TwinForHope conference in Warsaw, the universities have jointly developed two projects based on international partnership. Their development reflects the challenges faced by KhNMU during the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. The first project is a collaboration between the NTU Institute of Health in the field of Nursing on academic mobility of KhNMU nursing students. The second project involves online knowledge exchange activities between the NTU Department of Social Work, Care and Community and the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology, Medical Psychology and Social Work of KhNMU. A joint event in this area is planned to be timed to coincide with World Social Work Day in March 2025.
The Memorandum was signed online by the Rector of KhNMU, Valery Myasoyedov, and the Vice-Chancellor for Research and International Studies of NTU, Richard Emes. Both parties expressed hope for further successful and fruitful cooperation.
