The student held a course in sign language
During November 2024, the External Relations Sector of the Student Government of KNMU organized 3 offline and 4 online classes as part of the “Medical Gesture” project.
The invited guest of the project was a native sign language speaker, Oksana Tsukanova.
The main goal of the project is to promote the creation of an inclusive environment through the teaching of sign language and the development of communication skills to improve access to medical, social and educational services.
The program of the event included studying the sign language alphabet, basic words and phrases for communication, practical practice of the acquired skills, discussion of the difficulties faced by people with hearing impairments, providing useful resources in Kharkiv and Ukraine that help in accessing services.
Offline classes were held in a friendly atmosphere. Additionally, each participant was provided with video materials for review.
Thank you to the organizers, the Pharmaceutical Hub for the support of the 911 pharmacy, where the event took place, and all the participants for their active participation in creating an inclusive society.
