Cooperation of KhNMU and Handicap international
On June 19, 2024, a delegation of the humanitarian organization “Handicap International – Humanity” visited the Kharkiv National Medical University. Alice Belliot, manager of the project, and Olexander Kuznetsov, technical specialist on prosthetics and orthotics, visited the university with the aim of discussing important problems related to implementation of 3D printing technology in the area of prosthetics and orthotics.
The main topic of the meeting was discussing the donation from the organization – 3D printer and supplies for providing high-level studies for students.
This 3D printer will become an important instrument in teaching future specialists prosthetics and orthotics and make it possible to acquire practical skills in production of modern prostheses and orthoses.
Handicap International provide giving not only technical support but have a plan to organize training on using 3D printer for co-workers of 3D technologies Center of the ASI of Education Quality and the lecturers who will be involved in the process of teaching. It allows specialists of the university to master the newest methods and convey knowledge to students and this is considered to be an important step in the development of medical education in Ukraine.
The culmination of the meeting was the signing of Memorandum of mutual understanding between KhNMU and Handicap International. This document strengthens the desire of both parties to continue further cooperation and realization of mutual projects in the area of 3D printing technologies, prosthetics and orthotics.
Cooperation KhNMU with Handicap international opens new horizons for medical education and people’s rehabilitation in Ukraine. Thanks to this initiative the university will be able not only to provide high-level training for specialists but also significantly contribute to improving life of people with amputations and other medical demands.
The support of Handicap International, as a part of International cooperation during the severe war years, is an important step in the direction of innovative development of medical sphere in Kharkiv.
