On June 11–12 2025, the VII International Scientific and Practical Conference “Philosophy, Religion and Medicine in the Modern Age,” dedicated to the memory of Saint Luke (V.F. Voino-Yasenetsky) was held. The Department of Philosophy, Bioethics, and History of Medicine of the O.O. Bogomolets National Medical University organized the conference.

The Rector of the O.O. Bogomolets National Medical University, Yuriy Kuchin, addressed the conference participants with a welcoming speech.

The following representatives from KhNMU participated in the conference: Kateryna Karpenko, Head of the Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences, and Yaroslav Moskvin, Senior Lecturer of the Department.

In her report at the Plenary Session “Medical Ecofeminism: Origins and Place in the History of Medicine”, Prof. Karpenko noted that the covid-19 pandemic has increased inequalities in care for sick, while in Ukraine, a full-scale war has exposed the devastating impact of war on health care systems, the environment, and women’s health. In this context, medical ecofeminism offers not only a critical analysis but also a vision of care as a political action grounded in interdependence, inclusion, bodily experience, and respect for living beings.

Yaroslav Moskvin delivered a report at the sectional meeting on the topic “Imagination as a Philosophical Problem,” which sparked a lively discussion. The participants in the debate concluded that imagination, which comprehensively and multifacetedly responds to the level of modern challenges, determines the ways of understanding new technological realities and should shape thinking in today’s educational process.
