The Sanitary and Hygienic Laboratory of the Research Institute of Occupational Hygiene and Occupational Diseases of the Kharkiv National Medical University conducts research on the factors of the production environment and the labor process and laboratory-instrumental measurements for the attestation of workplaces at the production facilities of industrial enterprises.

Areas of activity
Attestation of workplaces by sanitary and hygienic laboratory specialists includes the provision of the following services:
- Consulting of the enterprise administration on the preparation and execution of orders for the attestation of workplaces;
- Consultation of the administration to determine workplaces that are subject to certification and harmful production factors that will be investigated during the certification process;
- Performance of sanitary-hygienic studies and laboratory-instrumental measurements (work is performed on modern equipment) of factors of the production environment, difficulty and tension of the labor process in the specified workplaces in the process of their attestation;
- Drawing up draft maps of working conditions and photos (timing of working hours) at certified workplaces;
- Carrying out calculations of additional payments and the duration of additional vacations for work in harmful working conditions;
- Determination and compilation of lists of employees who have been denied or offered preferential pension benefits according to lists No. 1, No. 2 based on the results of workplace attestation;
- Provision of hygienic and clinical scientific and practical recommendations on the problems of implementation of measures to improve working conditions and health protection of workers at the factory.
Research directions
- Scientific developments on the problems of drafting sanitary legislation documents based on the results of scientific research on the problems of hygienic regulation of harmful factors in the production environment and conducting hygienic expertise in particularly difficult cases.
- Conducting targeted complex scientific research on the problems of developing hygienic measures to optimize working conditions and health protection of workers on the order of specific productions of machine-building, chemical and other industries.
- Study of the factors of the production environment and the labor process and laboratory-instrumental measurements for the certification of workplaces at the production facilities of industrial enterprises with the subsequent provision of hygienic and clinical scientific and practical recommendations on the problems of the implementation of measures to improve working conditions and health protection of workers.
- Scientific research on the problems of optimizing the medical examination to establish the presence (absence) of an acute occupational disease (the connection between the disease and the profession) based on the implementation of objective criteria for assessing the clinical, epidemiological and hygienic situation and the use of methodological principles of expert assessments.
- Systematic analysis and assessment of the results of preliminary and periodic medical examinations in order to develop a scientific basis for increasing the effectiveness of preventive measures for the health of workers whose work is related to the influence of harmful and dangerous factors in the industrial environment.
- The educational process of training medical personnel at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels of education and upgrading the qualifications of military specialists based on the use of the profile specialized base of the clinic of occupational diseases and cooperation with the clinical and hygienic departments located in the institute.
