Online meeting between KhNMU and Trent University

On August 13, 2024, the first online meeting was held between representatives of Kharkiv National Medical University and Nottingham Trent University (NTU), Great Britain.

This international contact was the result of the Second international conference Twinning UK-Ukraine–2024 “The role of universities in the military reconstruction of Ukraine”. During the event, both parties expressed interest in finding and identifying opportunities for collaboration.

Nottingham Trent University is one of the largest public research universities in the UK. About 30,000 students from over 100 countries study there. The most popular majors are art and design, construction, communications, business, accounting and finance, culture and media, filmmaking and photography, English language and literature, medicine, psychology, criminology and law.

During the meeting, representatives of both sides presented each other the universities and shared their current work. Prospects for further cooperation between NTU and KhNMU in the following specialties were also discussed: “Nursing” and “Social work”.

The following sphere of cooperation was determined:

The department of psychiatry, narcology, medical psychology and social work of the KhNMU and the department of social work in the NTU community:

  • Online knowledge sharing event
  • Collaborative international online learning
  • Internships and/or future exchange opportunities

Department of propaedeutics of internal medicine, nursing and bioethics of KhNMU and Institute of Health and Related Professions of NTU:

  • Online knowledge sharing event
  • Collaborative international online learning
  • A summer training for nurses similar to the one developed in partnership with the University
  • of Cambridge for medical personnel
  • Internship and/or exchange opportunities in the future

At the end of the official meeting, the parties assured of their interest in further cooperation and development of partnership and emphasized that one of the first steps for the implementation of cooperation is the signing of a memorandum of understanding.
