On March 31, 2025, the Department of Internal and Occupational Diseases of Kharkiv National Medical University held its annual scientific conference for higher education students, titled “Interdisciplinary Aspects of Internal Medicine and Occupational Diseases”.

The event marked the culmination of the productive work of the department’s active student research community. Despite ongoing challenges, our students continue to pursue research, sharpen their clinical thinking, and explore innovative solutions to modern medical problems. The conference brought together over 50 participants, with 10 student presentations covering a wide range of topics in internal medicine.

Among the topics presented, the report on artificial intelligence in medicine, a modern tool that opens up new horizons in diagnostics, prognostication and clinical decision-making, stood out. The topic sparked an active discussion among the participants on the practical application, ethical aspects, and the future of AI integration into the daily work of a doctor. Another topic of interest was the practical value of the latest drugs in general practice, in particular Semaglutide-based products that are already changing approaches to weight control and prevention of metabolic disorders. Other professionally relevant topics included the impact of stress on the endocrine system, bronchial asthma, inflammatory bowel disease, the impact of harmful occupational factors on the haematological system, and interdisciplinary clinical approaches to assessing the quality of life of patients.

The conference clearly demonstrated the high level of student engagement, thoughtful analysis, and a growing interest in scientific inquiry. All participants were acknowledged, and the most outstanding presentations received certificates of recognition. Student research at the Department of Internal and Occupational Diseases is not only continuing — it is growing and shaping the future of Ukrainian medicine.
